Vanessa Paradis exploded onto the French music scene in the late 80's with her smash hit "Joe le taxi", which went rocketing to the top of the singles chart. The young teenager was transformed into an overnight star, but her enormous success at such a young age (Vanessa was just 15 when she soared straight to the n°1 spot) meant that many critics dismissed her as a Lolita-esque one-hit wonder.
