A new hopeful destined to crash-land into the international consciousness sometime soon, this nimble and mighty three-piece have presently cut their fourth studio album with producer frans hagenaars (of bettie serveert fame) under the auspicies of excelsior-recordings.
Their gale-force chords and opulent, even cinematic arrangements set them apart from the typical indie plankton who try to scramble up the industry's greasy pole armed with little more than the same old crushingly generic slackerpop. As the new self titled album 'caesar' shows, caesar is blessedly free of both the self-conscious suburban boredom and the odious six-string workouts that doom too many guitar-based bands to certain obscurity.
The past six years has placed caesar firmly among the dutch elite, a notoriety gained from accomplishing just about everything possible, including several successful shows at 'Pinkpop' and 'Lowlands', respectively the biggest and the coolest rock festivals in the country, and winning prestigious prizes for their album work. Foreign activities to date include a uk-release of the second album 'no rest for the alonely' by china/indochina records, followed by a uk tour.
The follow-up album 'leaving sparks' was recorded by steve albini in the chicago-based electrical-studio's which paved the way for a european tour, supporting stephen malkmus and the jicks.
